Manufactured Materials

2022

The goal of this project was to recreate manufactured materials using a real world reference as a starting point, and to create a material that is as accurate as possible to the reference. We had a strict 2 week timeframe to work on this setting up the UV's for our models and creating the materials, and then aging each material using non-destructive methods in Substance Painter.

I chose to recreate leather, wood, canvas cloth, glass, and brass based on the models I wanted to use for the scene itself.

The arcane flintlock pistol is my own 3D model created in Maya, and the rest of the assets in the scene were existing assets from the Unreal Marketplace that I removed the materials and UV maps from due to the time constraints of the project itself.

The materials I created in this scene were made using Substance Designer and Substance painter, and this project was my first experience with both.
