Cinematic Scene Overview
Earth Mother's Temple is a scene created in Unreal 5 for my final game art class at SCAD. The goal of this project was to create a complete environment populated with assets while also telling a visual narrative. I created every model and texture for this scene using Maya, Substance Designer, and Substance Painter. I worked on this project for a total of 10 weeks, and I can say it is the single most ambitious project I have taken on in terms of scope. I needed to create a complete 3D scene that tells a narrative, but I decided that I wanted everything in this project to be my own and to try to test the limits of the engine. Each model, material, and particle effect are all my own creation. I used no premade assets whatsoever, and while I did not need to create my own materials for the project I wanted the look to be unique and to learn as much as I could during the process.
The final result is a high fantasy open cave setting with dramatic lighting, that tells the story of an adventurer who was called here like many before. As they approach the temple radiating with magical crystal growth, they are taken by the Earth Mother's influence like the poor souls that came before them.

Something calls to you, resonating from deep within your body. You can't quite explain it but you feel it. You needed to find it. That feeling brought you here, on the precipice of a deep open-air cavern. You toss the rope down and begin your descent. Its too late to turn back now, you are hardly in control of your movements. You are not afraid. You came here to find her after all. The sweet song that now hums from each crystal you pass. She calls to you, and you answered. You will join her in her symphony.
